Electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc. will work with global regulators to ensure data security, Chief Executive Elon Musk said Friday at an industry event in China.

Tesla, which assembles vehicles for the Chinese market in Shanghai, has been under scrutiny this year over its storage and handling of customer data in China.
Cars are being fitted with an ever-increasing array of sensors and cameras to assist drivers, but the data that such equipment generates has also increased. Questions raised on privacy and security.
“With the rapid development of autonomous driving technologies, the data security of vehicles is attracting more public concerns than ever before,” Musk told the World New Energy Vehicle Congress on the southern Chinese island of Hainan via video link.

In May, Reuters reported that employees at some Chinese government offices were told not to park their Tesla cars inside government premises because of security concerns over vehicle cameras.
Tesla later said that it was Set up a site in China to store car data locally.
