Jason Grossboll of the Corpus Christi Theater has become a sensation on TikTok after his show mixing popcorn and butter went viral.
Theater popcorn but make it cocktail-style: That’s TikTok’s ‘Popcorn Guy’ Jason. Jason Grosbol is an employee of the Corpus Christi Century 16 Theater in Texas. He has worked there for a decade. According to Corpus Christi news outlet kiiitv.com, he loves meeting new people and buttering his popcorn. He even has ‘Popcorn Guy’ written on his nametag. Jason puts on quite a show before serving popcorn to visitors in the theater and on Twitter, a viral video showing off his skills has been viewed more than 18 million times. He is being dubbed from ‘Butter King’ to ‘Popcorn Bay’.
In the video, Jason can be seen twisting and turning the tub of popcorn every which way, laying butter and landing the tub on the counter with precision each time. He also throws up a peace sign after the feat. A Twitter page called “Dripped Out Trade Unionists” wrote, “No such thing as unskilled labor in 2023. You’re crushing it, Jason.”
“Actually distributing butter over popcorn and not just squeezing it on top and hoping it seeps to the bottom? This guy is doing God’s work,” wrote one Twitter user. “An effortless sign of skill, finesse, attitude, calmness?” Leave it to me, top tip, and invite her to the party next weekend [sic],” wrote another. “He is taking the time to spread it around, not on a popcorn kernel and looks like he is enjoying his job. I’d say it’s definitely killing it,” read another tweet.
