Meanwhile, this year also the special idol submission facility continued, in which 316 Bappa idols were received. Anti-noise activist Dr Mahesh Bedekar said the revelation came after two years of Covid-induced lull with the decibel level touching 90dB on city roads, higher than the normal permissible level of 65-70dB on roads with traffic , They said.
“The fun started from 10 pm onwards in many areas, including Ram Maruti Road, which continued after midnight, probably due to the general perception that no restrictions will be applicable this year. I can request some action on this front. However, it was heartening to see that there were fewer dhol tashas and loudspeakers on the streets as compared to the pre-Covid years,” Dr Bedekar said.
