Thane: A 52-year-old woman was allegedly duped online by some scamsters who lured her into a big posting for her son in a leading automobile company and gradually paid her over Rs 26 lakh in a year. , police said Sunday.
According to Kalwa The police, the complainant, a resident of Kalwa, was looking for a job for her son, who had applied on a leading job search mobile application.
An official said, “The woman and her son received information about job applications being cleared on various occasions in the last two months. The callers persuaded both to deposit the money citing various reasons like registration, which he did.”
However, both got suspicious as the callers failed to give the exact date of joining and kept insisting for more money after which they approached the police and filed a complaint.
“We have registered a complaint against the complainant and the nine accused named by his son under sections 420, 406, 34 of the IPC and sections 66C, 66D of the IT Act,” said a police officer.
