On another occasion, several residents of the Muslim-dominated area of ​​Rabodi in Thane, led by former corporator Najeeb Mulla, held a rally, carrying the 75-feet tall tricolor, wound up in the streets and spread the message of equality and national pride. Many students, youths participated in this rally which, locals said, was one of the biggest rally to be held in this Muslim-majority area.
The Thane Municipal Corporation hosted a series of programs to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence in the last three days, which concluded on Monday. Visitors said that a fashion show organized by special children at a major mall of the city on the occasion of Utsav 75 was one of the notable events.
Several housing societies across the city also came together and celebrated the occasion with enthusiasm by hoisting the national flag and celebrations organized by children and other members.
