Ryan Reynolds and Walker Scobel in a scene from The Adam Project.

name of the movie: Adam Project

Mold: Ryan Reynolds

the director: Sean Levy

Time travel is a great concept for the premise of the film. There is a sense of mystery and intrigue that revolves around the possibility of one’s future meeting one’s past. Sean Levy’s The Adam Project, helmed by the very good-looking Ryan Reynolds, as child actor Walker Scobel meets his 12-year-old self. Ryan’s character Adam (thus the title The Adam Project) is trying to do a number of things – it begins with his plan to save his late wife Laura (Zoe Saldana) from dying, but the larger quest to save humanity and the planet. ends with the plan. the destruction!

The Adam project is fun. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. I mean, with Reynolds at the fore, how could that be? The actor has become the poster boy for everything that is quirky, witty, dark satire and full of humour.

There are a lot of good VFX scenes which include battleships and fight scenes, but what strikes you the most in the film is the emotional struggle that Adam goes through. His scene with his mother (Jennifer Garner) at the bar stands out not only for the performance but also for the way it is written. The constant battle between guilt, remorse, the choices he has made, and flipping between parallel time-frames makes the plot engaging.

The performances are top notch. Child actor Walker Scobel is a major highlight of the film, especially in the scenes where he has to give it back to old Adam. There is a scene between the two where Reynolds explains to his younger self how to deal with threats, which shows the chemistry between these two actors.

The Adam Project is entertaining, it’s fast-paced and has dialogues that will leave you in splits. Highly recommend if you are looking for a thrill ride in a universe that presents unexpected surprises at every turn.

We’re going with 3.5 out of 5 stars.
