The Pokhara International Airport in Nepal was inaugurated two weeks ago by the country’s newly appointed Prime Minister Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and was constructed with assistance from China. At this airport, a plane crashed while landing on Sunday, in which 72 people were on board. Built in the back of the Annapurna mountain range, the terminal was officially inaugurated on January 1, 2023. This important project was part of China’s ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ (BRI) cooperation.

At least 68 people were killed when a Nepalese passenger plane carrying 72 people, including five Indians, crashed into a river valley on Sunday while landing at Pokhara airport, a rescue official said.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Yeti Airlines 9N-ANC A Sode-72 aircraft took off from Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport at 10:33 am. While landing at Pokhara airport, the plane crashed on the banks of the Seti river between the old airport and the new terminal.
