‘The Big Bang Theory’ universe expands with new spin-off series on the cards

washington [US], April 13 (ANI): Good news for the followers of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as the makers of the show are planning another spin-off for the series. The popular sitcom that has given the world several iconic characters like Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter and Raj Koothrappali is all set to enthrall the audience yet again.

The spin-off series is now being discussed on HBO Max, and even though the development process has yet to kick off, fans can’t wait to learn more about the project. According to Deadline, Max, a US-based media house, the joint HBO Max-Discovery+ service, and Big Bang co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre are planning a new comedy series set in The Big Bang Theory universe.

The idea was inspired by the fact that the re-telecast of the original series is one of the most watched series on the platform. The project is still under layers and nothing concrete can be found about the story of the show or the characters it will focus on.

As Deadline reports, this is Lorre, Max and WBTV’s second collaboration, as “How to Be a Bookie,” another comedy series from Sebastian Maniscalco, is under development. This will be the second branch after the prequel ‘Young Sheldon’, which provides a spin-off story of Sheldon Cooper from a young age.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ show started streaming on CBS in 2007 and is one of the most popular sitcoms of all time with 279 episodes across 12 seasons. (ANI)
