The buildings of 62 government-run secondary schools in the state will be revamped. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: The state government has decided to start an initiative named ‘Project Alankar’, under which the buildings of 62 government secondary schools in the state will be quickly madeover.
Under this exercise, 62 buildings of Government High School and Intermediate Colleges located in different districts will be reconstructed, repaired and renovated under ‘Project Alankar’ at a cost of Rs 135 crore.
Directorate of Education, UP has already received the proposal of 62 dilapidated school buildings. An official of the department said that now a proposal in this regard will be sent to the nominated committee constituted under the chairmanship of the State Director of Secondary Education for investigation. He said the work would start after getting the approval from the panel.
On October 1, Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary Education) Aradhana Shukla had sought a proposal for renovation and repair of dilapidated buildings of government schools.
Confirming the development, District Inspector of Schools (DIOS)-Prayagraj RN Vishwakarma said, “The list of six schools in Prayagraj district that need immediate reconstruction and major repair work has been sent to the directorate.”
For this mission, four-member committees have been constituted in all the districts under the chairmanship of the respective district magistrates, which include Chief Development Officer as member, DIOS as member secretary and executive engineer of Public Works Department as technical member. .
Maximum six schools in Prayagraj, five schools each in Kanpur Nagar, Meerut and Firozabad districts and three each in Chitrakoot, Banda and Shahjahanpur are also included in the list.
The Government Girls Inter College, Katra established in the year 1998 at Prayagraj has been proposed with Rs 2.65 crore, while the Government Girls Inter College (GGIC) Phulpur established in 1962 with Rs 3.72 crore and Government Intermediate has been proposed with Rs 2.82 crore. Colleges (GIC)-Suruvadalpur and Beri have been proposed to be established in 1980 respectively. Similarly, for GGICs at Saidabad and Dhanupur established in 1992, Rs 61.50 lakh and Rs 38.21 lakh have been proposed for various works respectively.
In these schools, works like drinking water facility, boundary wall and gate construction, cycle stand, solar plant, rain water harvesting, wall, roof, floor, window and door repair etc. will be done.
