IndiGo further said in its statement that 6E-2131 (Delhi-Bangalore) was scheduled to depart at 9.30 pm, which was delayed by 2 hours 46 minutes. The alternate flight took off at 12.16

Delhi Police officials said the airport control room received a call from the CISF control room about the engine fire of the Indigo aircraft.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been directed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to initiate an inquiry into the incident where an IndiGo flight was intercepted at the Delhi airport after a spark was noticed in the aircraft.

There were 177 passengers and seven crew members on board the plane. Later, the passengers were deboarded safely, he said.

According to sources, the pilot of a SpiceJet aircraft who was behind the IndiGo aircraft in the line-up informed the air traffic controller about the engine fire during taxi.
