The film directed by Bengal minister was first included in IFFI, then dropped

A Bengali feature film, whose director is now West Bengal’s education minister, has found itself out of a list prepared for screening at the Indian Panorama during the International Film Festival of Goa in Goa.

The 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) begins on November 20 and – as per the official list released on November 5, five feature films in Bengali language and two non-feature films were shortlisted for it. Indian panorama.

Feature films include Dictionary, which released earlier this year during Saraswati Puja, and even before the second wave of COVID-19 started in the country filled the house. The reason behind its boycott is not yet clear. For that matter, even its inclusion appears to be a last minute decision and an afterthought is considered to be at the bottom of the list, no. 25, even though the other selected Bengali films were grouped – alphabetically by language – at the beginning of the list.

When asked to comment, producers of DictionaryFirdousul Hasan, who is also the Vice President of the Film Federation of India, said that he would return. Filmmaker Jayshree Bhattacharya, a member of the feature-film jury for Indian Panorama, said she would once know what was really the matter.
