According to sources, the Gandhi family wants to give a free hand to the new Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and does not want to influence the defections in any way. However, he will be involved in other controversies, which are expected to be a brainstorm for the 2024 national elections. After election defeat after election and years of internal bickering and exodus of leaders for change, Sonia Gandhi handed over the reins of the 137-year-old organization to Mallikarjun Kharge in October.
