The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for the fourth consecutive day on Friday while authorities intensified efforts to restore traffic by destroying boulders blocking the road.

According to news agency PTI, the highway was blocked due to landslides, landslides and stone-fall at 33 places in Ramban and Udhampur districts. by heavy rain.

“The Srinagar-Sonmarg-Gumri road is closed for repair and maintenance. However, the Mughal road is for vehicular movement,” the traffic department said.

In an advisory, the traffic police said, “Around 3000 vehicles both HMV and LMV are stranded on NHW due to heavy rain all over NH-44 and stone-pelting at Panthyal and other places.

On Thursday, explosives were used to detonate stones obstructing the ongoing restoration work on the highway.

“The restoration work in the Banihal-Ramban-Udhampur section is on a war footing amid rock explosions, which has hampered the restoration efforts in Udhampur district,” an official said.

The highway was closed for traffic due to stone pelting in Panthiyal on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Musrat Islam said that the administration has made arrangements for night stay and food for the stranded passengers. He appealed to the commuters to contact the traffic control room before starting their journey on the highway.
