The leading stars of Squid Game reveal which was the hardest game to shoot! This is why it’s good for you – Times of India

The Korean series “Squid Game” took over the world after its release in September. More than a month has passed, but the fever continues. Its brutal, intense story revolves around several poverty-stricken, debt-ridden citizens who participate in a violent set of games to win a huge cash prize, which has fetched millions around the world. Containing deadly challenges – a matter of life and death – the series was full of drama and nail-biting scenarios.

To everyone’s surprise though, the challenges were actually inspired by childhood games played by young Korean kids.

7 games, 456 participants, but 1 winner

The play is about surviving, well… not entirely of the ‘fittest’, but also of someone who knows their way around people,

With about 456 participants risking their lives to win a lump sum, there are a total of 7 games, at the end of which only one survives and wins. However, the stakes are high, so much so that it could even cost someone’s life.

The list of games includes Red Light Green Light, the first game played in the first episode of Squid Game, Honeycomb Challenge, Tug-of-War, The Midnight Riot, Marbles, Glass Stepping Stones and finally the Squid Game itself.

Park Hee Soo and Hyeon Jung reveal the toughest game to film

In an interview, Squid Game lead actors Park Hee Soo (character name Choe Sang-woo) and Hoyon Jung (character name Kang Sa-byok) talk about their favorite and most difficult game to shoot in the series. Huh.

While “Marbles” was the hardest game for Hoyon Jung to shoot due to the number of emotions involved, Park Hee Soo says his favorite was “tug-of-war.” Jung later revealed how happy the actors were to see his ‘ugly’ expressions. However, in the end, the shot turned out really well, says the 27-year-old.

The tug of war challenge was all about strategic moves!

So what was so special about the towing challenge? Certainly physical strength played an important role in winning the task, but it was the strategy of Il-Nam (001) that led him to victory. He explains to his teammates how it was not only about strength and agility, but also about balance. That said, the old man led his team to follow a systematic pattern of leaning and pulling that, although risky, helped them win the challenge.

Teamwork played an important role

A tug of war is all about teamwork. Without the collective effort of everyone on Seong Gi-hun’s team, winning the challenge was nearly impossible.

Physically, they had already lost the game, given that the opposing team was a strong, well-built, all-male team. Whereas, on the other hand, Seong Gi-hun’s team consisted of a frail old man, women and only a few physically fit men.

That said, apart from physical and mental stamina, teamwork also motivates them to take it to the next level.

Towing can improve leg and arm strength, targeting different muscle groups

Well, given the buzz about sports, especially something like ‘tug-of-war’ which is played universally across the world, it is only natural to know how it can help us.

As you know, a round of tug of war can demand a lot from your hands and feet. This is an excellent upper body exercise that targets the various muscles around your chest, shoulders, forearms and core. It works your arms and your legs and improves strength.

Towing is a great team sport that also helps burn maximum calories. Given that it works your muscles, it demands your body to burn calories for energy.

a pure stress-buster

The tug of war challenge helps to release a lot of stress. While many emotions are at play, including the desire to win, enthusiasm helps people release all their stress in the form of energy, which ultimately leads to everyone’s rest. But of course, a win would be the perfect cherry on top!

It’s also a great game for bonding

In addition to health benefits, tug of war can also improve relationships, making bonding easier.

Since there are many people involved, there should be a sense of understanding and rapport between each teammate. That said, interaction is important and therefore, it makes for a great team sport.
