Ludhiana: A local court on Monday convicted all the accused, including one teenin high profile Issewal gang rape case of Ludhiana. The court of Additional Sessions Judge will pronounce the sentence in this case on March 4.
On 9 February 2019, a 20-year-old girl student and her friend were allegedly gang-raped by a group of miscreants by taking hostage as they went to Isewal area to celebrate Chocolate Day.
Police have registered a case against ten unknown accused in the case and arrested six accused, including private vehicle driver Jagroop Singh. Jaspal BangariAjay of Tibba, originally from Gonda in Uttar Pradesh and working as a driver at a petrol pump and four nomads (two from Ludhiana and one from Nawanshahr), including a teenager from Jammu and Kashmir.
Special Public Prosecutor BD Gupta said that all the six accused, including the juvenile, are convicted of all offenses except Section 397 (dacoity with deadly weapons) of IPC, which was changed to 395 IPC (ordinary dacoity/dacoity). It was because they were naked. Hence it was considered as simple robbery.
He said the quantum of punishment would be pronounced by the court on March 4.
