This restaurant in Bristol, England offers something unique in its menu. In canteens, the menu doesn’t just tell diners how much a dish costs. But they can also check its carbon footprint.

How does the restaurant do this?
To calculate the footprint for each item, the canteen sent the source of its recipes and ingredients to a specialized company called MyEmissions. It is able to calculate the carbon impact taking into account cultivation, processing, transportation and packaging.

Some examples include: 1. Carrot and beetroot pakoras with curd chutney are responsible for just 16 grams of CO2 emissions. Eggplant with miso and tabbouleh and za’atar toast with harissa sauce contains 675 grams of carbon dioxide.
