Gandhinagar: Prime minister Narendra Modi Laid the foundation stone of a new airbase coming up on Wednesday North Gujarat near the India-Pakistan border and said that it would emerge as an effective center for the security of the country.
Speaking after the inauguration of Defense Expo 2022 Gujarat Capital Gandhinagar, PM Modi It also said that the defense forces will issue a list of 101 more items that cannot be imported.
“Till eight years ago, we were recognized as the largest defense importer. Today we are writing a success story. Our exports grew 8 times – we are exporting to 70 countries,” PM Modi said
“The Defense Expo is like a window into the future for our youth,” he said.
PM said, “The biggest ever Defense Expo of the country has ushered in a new future. I know it has caused inconvenience to some countries too, but many countries with positive mindset have come with us.”
PM Modi also said that BrahMos is considered best in its class.
“This will give a big boost to the Indian defense industry,” he said.
He said that Defense Expo is also about global good. Small countries can benefit from this.
He said, “The makers of the defense sector do not allow new players but India has made its place.”
“68% of our defense budget will be used for procurement of Indian defense products”, the PM said.
The PM said that he is happy that as India is shaping these future opportunities, 53 African countries that are friends of India are standing shoulder to shoulder with us.
The PM also said that this is an unprecedented Defense Expo as for the first time only Indian companies are participating in it.
He said the airport is coming up Deesa Banaskantha in North Gujarat will “emerge as an effective center for the country’s security.
He said the country has come a long way, “earlier we used to release pigeons and now we release cheetahs”.
