The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS revealed as a street-legal race car with a massive rear wing – Times of India

Porsche has unveiled the new 992 generation 911 GT3 RS as a street-legal high-performance sports car that “takes full advantage of technology and concepts from motorsport.” The German manufacturer says that even beyond the high-revving naturally aspirated engine with racing DNA and intelligent lightweight construction, it tops out the 911 GT3 RS’s cooling and aerodynamic system that ties it directly to its motorsport-focused sibling – 911 GT3 R.
The design of the 911 GT3 RS is all about functionality. The biggest attraction has to be the huge goose-neck-supported rear wing, which consists of a fixed main wing and an upper, hydraulically adjustable wing element. This is the first time on a Porsche production vehicle that the top edge of the rear wing is elevated from the roof of the car.

Also, the front end of the 911 GT3 RS no longer has a front spoiler, but instead has a front splitter that splits the air up and down. Sideblades accurately direct air outward. Front wheel arch ventilation is provided through louvered openings in the front wings.
The 2023 992-generation 911 GT3 RS takes inspiration from the Le Mans class-winning 911 RSR and later 911 GT3 R and uses a large, angled center radiator in the nose of the car, where the luggage compartment is located. Other 911 models. It also makes it possible to use the free space on the sides to integrate active aerodynamic elements.
Porsche says that continuously adjustable wing elements in the front and spacious two-part rear wing, in combination with other aerodynamic measures, provide 409 kg of total downforce at 200 km/h. This means the 911 GT3 RS produces twice as much downforce as its predecessor and three times more downforce than the current 911 GT3. At 285 km/h, the total downforce is 860 kgf.

The Drag Reduction System (DRS) has been installed in a production Porsche for the first time. To achieve low drag and high speeds on straight sections of track, the DRS allows the wings to be flattened at the push of a button, within a specific operating range.
The new 911 GT3 RS is powered by the same high-revving 4-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as the outgoing model, but is now more powerful. Thanks to the new camshafts with revised cam profile, the power output has been increased to 525 PS. The engine is mated to a 7-speed PDK automatic gearbox. Porsche claims that the 2023 911 GT3 RS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 296 km/h.
Despite all its massive components, the 911 GT3 RS only weighs 1,450 kg. The new 911 GT3 RS is available for order, with prices starting at €229,517 in Germany, which translates to around Rs 1.86 crore in Indian currency!
