The new third-gen Range Rover Sport will debut on May 10

Land Rover has said that the new Range Rover Sport will get off to a “spirited start” with a short teaser video suggesting it is expected to tackle the off-road course.

Land Rover revealed the new fifth-gen Range Rover last year, and now almost 6 months later, it’s the turn of the new third-gen Range Rover Sport. The new Sport is set to make its debut on May 10 with Land Rover releasing the first set of teasers for the upcoming luxury SUV. The teasers provide a brief glimpse of the exterior design of the upcoming SUV as well as a look at the central console. A separate teaser video shared on social media shows that Land Rover is planning to take the new Range Rover Sport through some off-road hurdles, just as the company did with the current-gen model.

Starting with the exteriors, the teaser reveals the sleek headlamps and a part of the SUV’s front fenders and A-pillar. Overall, don’t expect a dramatic change in design from the current model with the Land Rover likely to follow the same evolutionary design we saw with the new gen-5 Range Rover.

The interior image previewed a dashboard design that is shared with its older sibling, although the center console has been redesigned with the center console projecting out from the dashboard under the touchscreen to give a more flowing look. So to receive. With this there appears to be a modified position for the gear lever. Land Rover has said the new Sport will offer a “dynamic, cockpit-like driving position” with the cabin finished in “the finest materials”.

The company also said that the new Range Rover Sport will “continue on the daring feats of its predecessors by taking on a unique challenge for its launch.” As a brief recap, the outgoing models had accomplished a number of challenges, including crossing the “Empty Quarter” in the Arabian Peninsula, setting a Pikes Peak hill-climb record, and climbing 999 steps at Heaven Gate in China in 2018.

The dashboard design is similar to that of the larger Range Rover, although the center console has a more flowing design.

As with the larger Range Rover, the new Sport will sit on Land Rover’s new MLA Flex architecture. Engine options are also expected to be shared, meaning that the new Sport will feature a range of six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system. A plug-in hybrid and a range-topping SVR model are also expected that could use the 4.4-litre V8 of the BMW M under the JLR-BMW powertrain sharing agreement.

Land Rover says that it will open order books for the new Sport globally from May 10, though for India we can expect bookings to start in the coming months.
