The newly appointed Haryana minister found most of the employees absent during the surprise inspection of the civic body.

“I was disappointed. It is a matter of concern that 80% of the employees were absent,” the minister told reporters.

The Urban Local Bodies and Housing for All Minister soon ordered the concerned authorities to take strict action against those missing from office without any genuine reason.

On Thursday, Dr. Gupta, who had allotted two departments, warned the employees to come on time on time.

“I was disappointed. It is a matter of concern that 80% of the employees were absent,” the minister told reporters.

However, Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goel later told reporters that 29 out of 48 employees were absent, according to which a little over 60% were absent. Four other employees were on leave, Mr Goyal said.

After checking the attendance register, Dr. Gupta said, “I think it is the incompetence of our officers. Strict action will be taken against those found absent and the officers will be held accountable.”

He said that the day’s salary would be deducted for those who were absent without any genuine reason, while those who remained absent due to valid reasons would be spared. Two-time MLA from Hisar and senior BJP leader Dr. Gupta was included in the Manohar Lal Khattar-led Council of Ministers on Tuesday along with Devendra Singh Babli of Jannayak Janata Party.

The Urban Local Bodies Department was earlier with senior minister Anil Vij while the Housing for All was with the Chief Minister.
