The next generation of Fiat Pandas will be highly customizable

The Fiat parent only made a bold bet on electric cars in 2021, and now it looks like it’s accelerating its shift toward electric powertrains. Fiat wants its next-generation Panda to be the entry-level EV option and probably the most affordable EV in Europe.

Oliver Francois, president of the Fiat brand, said, “Wake up the sleeping giant. That’s exactly my approach. We haven’t even started to wake that giant up yet.”

The new electric hatchback has been designed with modularity at its heart. It will come with a choice of 4 roof covers, 4 bumpers, 4 wheel wraps and 4 paint wraps.

Interior accessories are interchangeable and can be installed in “plug-and-play” mode – from cluster and storage pockets to seats and child seats – directly by the customer. The outer shells are wrapable, the bumpers are customizable, and various roof covers are available to dress it up as the seasons change or to suit your preferences,” Fiat explains in an official release.

Fiat is going out of its way to talk about its customization capabilities. There will even be an adjustable dock to hold the phone or tablet as it completely removes the infotainment screen. Francois revealed that the top-end trim of the 500e, which is a class above the Panda, will top out at €30,000.

“There will be a future for Panda as a nameplate… so I initially introduced the latest 500 as a convertible: high-end, full of options, and 30,000 Euros. Because the day I introduce the Panda of the future I’ll probably do the opposite. I’ll offer the naked version with the unbelievable price tag,” he said, indicating a less than 20,000 euro price point for the car.
