The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned people against using unauthorized versions of some COVID-19 rapid antigen tests that are currently being marketed in the United States. A warning was issued against unauthorized versions of CellTreon USA Inc.’s DietTrust covid-19 ag rapid test,

According to the agency, the unofficial Akon test comes in blue packaging, the SD Biosensor in a white and magenta box, and Celltrion’s green and white packaging. It suggested consumers to compare packaging to make sure they do not buy unauthorized tests.

It further said that there are many fraudulent products being sold in the market that claim to cure, treat or prevent COVID-19 and that such products, “have not been evaluated by the agency for safety and effectiveness and are dangerous. It is possible”. The US drug agency said fraudulent COVID-19 products can come in many forms, including dietary supplements and other foods, as well as products claiming to be tests, medicines, medical devices or vaccines. Cited products include teas, essential oils, tinctures and colloidal silver.

Reflecting concern over the use of unauthorized products, the FDA said, “These deceptive and deceptive products may delay or prevent people from getting appropriate medical treatment for COVID-19, which could lead to serious and life-threatening harm. They don’t do what they do. They claim, and the ingredients in them can cause adverse effects and interact with and potentially interfere with medications to treat a number of underlying medical conditions”.

The FDA has also noticed that unauthorized fraudulent testing kits for COVID-19 are being sold online. It said, “Working with retailers to remove dozens of deceptive products from store shelves and online. The agency will continue to monitor the promotion and sale of fake COVID-19 products on social media and online marketplaces.”

The FDA may send a warning letter or pursue a seizure or injunction against people, products, or companies that violate the law. It said it is increasing enforcement at ports of entry to ensure that fraudulent products do not enter the country through our borders.

In addition, the FDA is monitoring complaints about fake coronavirus treatments, vaccines and tests.
