Electricity department employees are against privatization of electricity distribution
Power department workers on Thursday boycotted a meeting with the power secretary to discuss the central government’s move to privatize power distribution in Puducherry.

The meeting was called to pacify the workers who were opposing privatization.
Against this decision, a section of activists had staged several agitations against the Centre.
“We did not attend the meeting and continued the agitation. They wanted to tell us about the benefits of this move, but we know that this step will not bode well for the workers and people of the Union Territory in the long run. We will continue our protest till the decision of the Central Government is withdrawn.
