‘There is love for Dalits…’: Telangana BJP leader takes a dig at CM KC Rao for renaming the secretariat

HyderabadBJP state president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday called CM K Chandrashekhar Rao’s decision to name the new secretariat after BR Ambedkar a “good decision” but said that if there is love for the weaker sections, then A Dalit should be made the Chief Minister.

“It is a good decision to name the new secretariat of the Telangana government after Ambedkar. But, what happened to KCR’s promise that he would be beheaded if he did not keep his word? If there is love for Dalits, then a Dalit. should be seated. Permanently as chief minister till TRS is in power. A Dalit should be seated in the new seat of the CM in the new secretariat,” Bandi said.

Attacking the CM, he asked why the government was not giving three acres of land to the Dalits. If you only keep the secretariat’s name (after Ambedkar) and do vote bank politics, then Dalit society will not accept it. Not just the name of the secretariat, but a Dalit should be installed as the chief minister in that secretariat,” he told media reporters.

State ministers and other TRS leaders lauded the decision. At some places, TRS leaders and workers performed ‘doodh abhishekam’ on Rao’s posters.

Welcoming Rao’s move, Owaisi tweeted: “Excellent decision by Telangana CMO to name new Secretariat building after #BabasahebAmbedkar. I thank him for considering my suggestion. KCR to BC , has worked hard to improve the socio-economic conditions of SC, ST and minorities. It is a fitting reflection of their dedication.”

A CMO release quoted Rao as saying that it is a matter of pride for the people of Telangana to name the new secretariat building after Ambedkar. He said that the Telangana government is moving ahead with Ambedkar’s principle that all people should get equal respect in all fields.

He said that a separate Telangana state became a reality as Ambedkar with his vision included Article 3 (which deals with the formation of new states) in the Constitution.

He said in the release that the state government is implementing the constitutional spirit of Ambedkar by providing humane governance to the poor belonging to SC, ST, BC, minorities, women and “forward castes”.

He said that Telangana has become a role model in the country by progressing with vision in all fields and the name of the Secretariat has once again stood as a model in the country in the name of Ambedkar.

KCR’s decision to name the secretariat after Ambedkar comes after the state legislative assembly passed a resolution asking the Center to name the newly created Parliament in Delhi after Ambedkar.

Rao said he would soon write a letter to the Prime Minister regarding the assembly resolution. He reiterated his demand that the new Parliament House be named after Ambedkar.
