Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight took off without ATC clearance

The probe was launched after a SpiceJet flight from Rajkot in Gujarat to Delhi without the mandatory take-off permission from Air Traffic Control (ATC) Rajkot. As per the details, the incident was registered last week following which investigation has been initiated against the pilots of SpiceJet.

Commenting on the incident, Rajkot airport director said, “The incident happened on December 30, 2021, the pilots did not take the mandatory take-off permission from ATC Rajkot. A detailed report was sent to the Airports Authority of India Headquarters and DGCA Has been. “

As per the flight schedule, SG-3703 was on time to take off for Delhi, but it was observed by ATC that the pilots of the aircraft took off for Delhi without taking the mandatory permission for take-off.

A senior official said, “Through their communication, Rajkot ATC asked the pilots how did you take off without permission for take-off… The pilot apologized and said there was a mistake. The conversation took place when The plane had taken off,” a senior official said. Airports Authority of India said.

As per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), mandatory take-off permission is required for any aircraft from ATC before take-off, whether the runway is secure or not or any other aircraft is not approaching for an emergency.

Following the incident, the airline company’s pilots were placed on “off-duty” until the investigation was completed.

“The pilots have been released for investigation,” SpiceJet said.
