A thief got trapped in a hole in the wall while fleeing with nine grams of silver stolen from the Jami Elama temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district. A police officer gave this information on Wednesday.
A case of robbery has been registered against the accused in Kanchili police station area of Srikakulam district.
“A thief identified as Papa Rao stole nine grams of silver from the Jami Elama temple in Srikakulam district. He made a hole in the wall of the temple complex and entered inside the temple. He got trapped in the hole on his way back. The thief He was caught red handed and taken into custody, said Chiranjeevi, senior inspector of Kanchi police station.
Temple owner Yellama said the thief was seen throwing the goddess’s nose ring and other silver ornaments out of the hole.
The temple owner said, “Such incidents have never happened before. The thief entered through a hole. He came in but could not go out, he was seen throwing out the goddess’s nose ring and other silver ornaments.”
