Third Russian death in Odisha in 15 days, body recovered from ship

Russian civilian found dead in ship’s chamber.

Paradip:

Another Russian was killed in Odisha on Tuesday. This is the third such case in the last fortnight. The police informed that the Russian, claiming to be Milakov Sergey, was found dead in a ship anchored at Pardip port in Jagatsinghpur district. The 51-year-old man was the chief engineer of the ship MB Alana, which was on its way to Mumbai from Bangladesh’s Chittagong port via Paradip.

At around 4.30 am, the Russian civilian was found dead in the ship’s chamber. However, the police could not ascertain the cause of the alleged death. PL Haranand, chairman of the Pardeep Port Trust, confirmed the death of the Russian engineer and said the matter was being probed. In December, two Russian tourists, including a parliamentarian, were mysteriously killed in southern Odisha’s Rayagada town.

In Russia, MP Pavel Antonov (65) died on December 24 after allegedly falling from the third floor of a hotel, while his friend Vladimir Bidenov (61) was found dead in his room on December 22. Both the cases are being probed by Odisha.
