In a related story, Google has introduced a new passkey feature for Android devices and Google Chrome. This feature provides additional security to the users. Users will now soon be able to use this option to authenticate their identity using a PIN or biometric authentication to log into any website or app instead of using a password. The technology giant is touting it as a safer alternative for users as compared to the traditional two-factor authentication method. The feature is currently only available to developers and Google is planning to roll out the Passkey feature to regular users later this year. The tech giant says that anyone will be able to create and use Passkey on an Android device without worrying about syncing issues as it will be backed up to Google Password Manager. Backing up to the cloud-service is essential because when a user sets up a new Android device by transferring data from an old device, the existing end-to-end encryption key will be securely transferred to the new device, according to Google.
