This company will now allow employees to work in 170 countries

Airbnb said employees can freely decide on their work environment

New Delhi:

Airbnb has announced that it will allow its employees to work from anywhere – from office, home or any part of the country – depending on their preferences. The San Francisco-based firm said that employees can decide their work environment freely and their decision will not affect their pay.

From September, the company will also allow employees from other countries to work. They can live and work in more than 170 countries at each location for 90 days a year. “Everyone will still need a permanent address for tax and payroll purposes,” CEO Brian Chesky added in a E-mail employees on Thursday.

The CEO outlined five key features of the new Work From Anywhere design.

1. Work from Home or Office

The CEO said that the company is giving employees the flexibility to work in their own way, where they feel most productive. Most employees will have this flexibility and require a small number of people in the office or a specific location to perform their responsibilities.

2. Roam anywhere in the country

Employees can move from place to place – whether it means moving closer to family or living in a place you’ve always dreamed of. “If you move, your compensation will not change. Starting June, we will have single pay levels by country for both pay and equity. If your pay was determined using the lower location-based pay level, you would The increase will be received in June,” said the CEO.

3. Travel and work around the world

Starting in September, Airbnb employees can live and work in 170 countries for 90 days each year over the course of a year. While individual employees must secure work permits themselves, the company said it is “actively partnering with local governments” to make it easier for more people to travel and work around the world.

However, permanent international moves will not be available this year.

4. Regular team meetings, off-site and social events

according to mr.Chesky, Airbnb is prioritizing meaningful in-person gatherings throughout the year. However, as the pandemic is still ongoing, there will be limited off-site events this year. The number of these events will increase next year.

5. Work in a highly coordinated manner

To overcome this level of flexibility, employees will need to coordinate and structure their plans. “Without this, things would be free for everyone,” the CEO said.
