This is how the redesigned Photos app will look in Windows 11 – Times of India

Microsoft is aiming to streamline the entire Windows ecosystem by updating its own apps with a common user interface that matches the new Fluent design language windows 11 Operating System. The company recently updated it calculator, mail and Calendar, Snipping Tool and paint app With the new design and UI and now it seems that the Photos app is going to adopt the new design language as well.
Microsoft Chief Product Officer panos panay Posted a short video on Twitter showing the new performance Redesigned Photos App For Windows 11. He also confirmed that the new Photos app will soon be available to Windows Insider users.

Apart from the new WinUI, Fluent design language and rounded corners, the new Photos app also brings some new features and improves the existing ones from the existing Photos app as well. It appears that the new app is also designed for touch screen devices in the short video posted by Panay.
What’s new in the updated Photos app for Windows 11
The short video shared by Panay highlights several new features and changes in the existing version of the Photos app. The first and most noticeable feature was the new carousel that appears when you expand a photo from a folder and move the mouse cursor down. The carousel allows users to click on another photo to open or select multiple photos at once and they will all open on the same screen.
Another noticeable change is the slightly modified top menu control. It feels like a floating window and offers handy features like quick photo info, editing tools, and more. The File Info window has been moved to the right side of the screen and now also has a dedicated icon for each information along with a mini map that shows the geotagged position.
However, the home screen layout appears to be identical to the current version, divided into five sections – Collections, Albums, People, Folders, and Video Editor. Plus, the editing tools are the same as in the current version.
So, these were some of the changes that Panay’s video revealed about the redesigned Photos app. The video doesn’t mention anything about the performance and stability improvements of the Photos app as the current one is a bit moody and works a bit at times. Hopefully, the update will resolve all those issues.
In the meantime, Microsoft Windows 11 will debut on October 5th and we have everything you need to know about the operating system. Here.
