Three arrested for robbing, harassing women at DHA, Clifton – Henry’s Club

KARACHI: Police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a gang of robbers who allegedly robbed women’s jewelry and harassed them in Defense and Clifton.

South SSP Rai Aijaz Ahmed told a press conference that the arrested suspects have committed more than 100 crimes in the high reaches of the city during the last two years.

They also showed footage where suspects were seen snatching jewelry from women outside their homes at gunpoint or while traveling in their vehicles at DHA and Clifton.

He named the suspects as Gibran, Anees and Waqas and said they were identified with the help of CCTV footage.

He committed three to four robberies in a week, he said, adding that strict legal action would be taken against jewelers who snatched gold ornaments from them.

“The ringleader also lived in South Africa and has been arrested twice before,” he said.

The SSP admitted that the gang had instilled a sense of fear and insecurity among the women.

Meanwhile, SSP-Investigation Dr Farooq Raza said that the gang members involved in robbing civilians and wearing police caps on the seashore have been identified. The prime suspect lived in a rented bungalow in Defence.

However, he fled the province, he said, adding that the gang posed as policemen and looted people.
