Sattvik Food Festival: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has organized a three-day Sattvik Food Festival at Connaught Place, Delhi. It will be held from August 19 to 21 at A-Block parking lot. The food organized under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign will be cooked and served in eco-friendly utensils. However, the New Delhi Traders Association has opposed the event as the parking area will remain closed for a week, which will hit local businesses.

As per a report in TOI, “In the three-day festival, food will be cooked and served in eco-friendly/earthenware based utensils. This food festival is being organized under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign and is aimed at the public. Use eco-friendly and eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics.”

On the other hand, the New Delhi Traders Association has opposed the event saying that ‘the parking area will remain closed for a week, which will not only inconvenience both the traders and visitors but also the local businesses.

“Lt Governor sir, you are requested to kindly advise the council and members not to arrange festivals at the cost of traders of CP. How can they close our parking for 7 working days as it kills business and CP Isn’t the public park?” The association tweeted on Wednesday. NDTA general secretary Vikram Badhwar said, “This event is being organized without our consent, any discussion and subsequent may lead to an unhealthy situation. Also, abruptly closing the parking lot is inappropriate.”

Further, he said, “We request @PMOIndia @narendramodi @AmitShahOffice @LtGovDelhi @CMODelhi @ArvindKejriwal @manishsisodia90 not to ruin @CP_Heartofdelhi by arranging parking and public events in Central Park, its business premises not public park Please let us work and earn.
