Three girls died due to drowning in deep drain water in KPHB Colony here on Friday afternoon.
The girls – Ramya, 7, Sangeeta, 12, and Safia, 10, all residents of Phase 4 KPHB – had gone to play near Bindu with two other girls. “They were playing on a small ground near the drainage water point. After sometime he went near the water and accidentally slipped in it. Cyberabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (Madhapur Zone) M Venkateshwarlu said two girls managed to escape, while the other three panicked and drowned.
He said the incident happened around 3.40 pm and after an operation of over three hours, the bodies were retrieved and sent to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
The parents of the victims are laborers who migrated from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to Hyderabad.
