Three Indian-Americans die in frozen lake in US: Officials

In a tragic incident, three Indian nationals, including a woman, drowned after falling through ice while walking on a frozen lake in the US state of Arizona.

The incident occurred at Woods Canyon Lake in Coconino County, Arizona on December 26 at 3:35 p.m.

Coconino said, “The missing persons have been identified as 49-year-old Narayan Muddana and 47-year-old Gokul Medisetty. The female victim has been identified as Harita Muddana (age unknown). All three victims resided in Chandler, Arizona.” Wale and was originally from India. The County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said in a statement on Tuesday.

Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix.

Officials said they were soon able to pull Haritha out of the water and performed life-saving measures but were unsuccessful and she died at the scene.

The crew then began searching for Narayan and Medisetty, who had fallen into the lake. The sheriff’s office said the bodies of the two men were found Tuesday afternoon.

The bodies of all three have been recovered.

“Personnel stationed at a substation in the area were called to the lake after two men and a woman walked on the frozen lake and fell through the ice,” according to a statement released by officials with the CCSO.

More than a million Americans and Canadians are facing problems as a massive winter storm continues to hit North America.

A bomb cyclone, when atmospheric pressure decreases, has brought snow, strong winds and freezing temperatures. About 250 million are affected, and at least 19 deaths have been linked to the storm which stretched more than 3,200 km from Quebec to Texas.
