The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials have reportedly decided to take steps to include three more underpasses on the national highway bypass section from Ramanattukara to Vengalam.

He had recently visited various parts of the NH along with Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan, where six-laning work is underway, to study the need for the underpass. The MP said in a press release that there were many apprehensions among people in some areas about the possibility of floods during monsoon and locals having to travel long distances to cross the road.

The MP had recently brought the issue to the notice of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. An official team led by NHAI Regional Officer BL Meena and Project Director Abhishek Varghese visited the locations following the instruction of the minister.

The MP had held discussions with officials on Thursday to finalize the changes.

The authorities reportedly decided to install a more elaborate drainage system at Pantheerankavu where floods are quite common during the monsoon. Currently work is underway on a flyover at Pantheerankavu.

Apart from this, to avoid traffic jam on the service road of the flyover in future, arrangements will be made at Palajhi Junction near Highlight Mall. The authorities also decided to make arrangements for expediting the six-laning work.
