Three passengers coming from Jeddah were caught carrying gold worth ₹1.32 crore at Calicut airport

Officials of the Air Customs Department and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized three kg gold worth ₹1.32 crore from three passengers who arrived from Jeddah at the Calicut International Airport on Friday midnight.

Officials said that Muhammad Mustafa of Malappuram and KK Naushad of Puduppadi, Kozhikode, who arrived on an IndiGo flight, tried to smuggle 1.016 kg and 1.058 kg respectively through the airport. Both of them hid the banned substance in the form of capsules in their rectum.

The third passenger, Abdul Mujeeb of Ramnattukara in Kozhikode, had come on an Air-India Express flight. He had 952 grams in the form of gold capsules. Officials said he had also hidden gold in his rectum.
