Thrikkakara by-election: Strict action against pre-poll and exit poll survey

District Collector Zafar Malik has said that strict action will be taken against those conducting pre-poll survey in connection with Trikkakara by-election.

“We have received reports that such surveys are being conducted through WhatsApp and other platforms. The Election Commission has banned pre-poll surveys. The details related to the surveys being conducted as part of Thrikkakara bypoll have been handed over to the police,” he said.

The Chief Electoral Officer has also banned exit polls on election day. Action will be taken against those involved in transmission of exit polls through electronic or other media from 7 am to 6 pm on Tuesday.

Mr Malik has warned of strict action against attempts to cast fake votes. Necessary steps have been taken to avoid such attempts. Around 1,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure a peaceful bypoll. There are no sensitive or important booths in the constituency. According to an official communication, there are 239 polling stations, including one pink booth and five model booths.
