The maximum temperature in the summer season can cause the battery to overheat and cause fires. Apart from the weather problem, one of the main reasons for such fire accidents is faulty charging. People use wrong chargers which supply wrong amount of output current and voltage which cause accidents.

These are technical problems that can cause a fire. Accidental damage can also result in a fire as the battery is physically damaged and the cells may explode due to ignition.

Tips to protect your electric scooter from catching fire:

  • Do not charge the battery for 30 to 40 minutes before use, as it takes some time for the battery to cool down.

  • To charge the battery only, use the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)-supplied genuine charger and avoid using any other alternative or locally made charger.

  • If the battery case is damaged or if the case is waterlogged, contact your electric vehicle dealer. Store the battery in a safe place and away from sources of heat, fire and substances that are corrosive or flammable.
  • One of the most important and basic precautions you can take is to park your electric scooter in a shaded area, not in the direct summer sun for long periods of time.
  • When the battery is not charging, the charger should be unplugged and both the battery and charger should be stored in a dry, clean and ventilated place.
