There was no way that Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt could have survived the floating door at the end of both Titanicreiterated master filmmaker James Cameron, who went a step further and produced “scientific studies” to put this long-running debate to rest.

Fans have long argued that Rose, played by Kate Winslet, should have made room for Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) on the floating piece of wood after the Titanic sank in Cameron’s epic disaster film. Rose, who was lying on top of the door, survived in the end, while Jack, who was on the side, froze to his death in the icy Atlantic waters.

Cameron, who in 2019 called Jack’s death an “artistic choice” that had nothing to do with the physics of the two men fitting in the door, has now revealed that the team made changes to justify the film’s climax. A thorough forensic analysis was done for the same.

“We’ve done a scientific study to put this whole thing to rest and drive a stake through your heart once and for all.

The director told the tabloid newspaper, “We’ve done a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia specialist who reproduced the raft from the movie and we’re going to do a little special on that.” Toronto Sun.

Special’s February release coincides with the resumption of 4K Titanicis scheduled to hit the screens on Valentine’s Day weekend 2023.

According to Cameron, he took on two stunt guys with similar body masses to Winslet and DiCaprio to help with the study. See if they could survive in different ways and the answer was, there was no way they both could survive. Only one could survive,” he said.

Jack “needed” to die in the 1997 film, argued the filmmaker, whose latest release Avatar: The Way of Water Released on Friday. “It’s like Romeo and Juliet. It’s a movie about love and sacrifice and mortality. Love is measured by sacrifice … Maybe 25 years from now, I won’t have to deal with it anymore,” Cameron continued.

While DiCaprio has maintained a “no comment” stance on the debate, Winslet previously teased popular TV host Jimmy Kimmel by saying that Jack could “fit” in that door.
