The ruling Trinamool Congress is planning to bring a resolution in the upcoming session of the West Bengal Assembly over alleged “misuse” of central probe agencies for “political vendetta”. The extended monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha will begin from September 14 and is likely to continue till September 22.

“There have been discussions about bringing a resolution in the session but nothing has been finalized yet. A decision on this will be taken in the next few days and the motion will be placed before the House. Business The meeting of the advisory committee will be held next week.

According to sources in the TMC legislature party, a resolution is being planned against the “misuse” of central agencies as a “political tool” for retaliation.

“Not only in West Bengal, but BJP misuses CBI and ED in all opposition ruled states. The agencies have turned a blind eye to the allegations of corruption against BJP leaders,” said a senior TMC MLA.

In a setback to TMC, ED and CBI arrested senior leaders Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mondal. Chatterjee, a former education minister, was arrested by the ED in July in the school job scam, while TMC’s Birbhum district president Mandal was arrested by the CBI last month in a cattle smuggling case.

The BJP said it would oppose any such resolution in the House. “If someone has not done anything wrong, why is he afraid to face the central agency? The law will take its course. BJP does not influence any investigation. We will oppose such a motion on the floor of the House,” said party chief whip Manoj Tigga.
