Top refiner Indian Oil Corp eyes net zero carbon emissions by 2046

Indian Oil Corp has drawn up a roadmap to achieve net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2046.

Indian Oil Corp, the country’s top refiner, has set a 2046 net zero carbon emission target, its chairman SM Vaidya said at the annual shareholders’ meeting on Thursday. India, one of the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitters, is aiming to reach net zero emissions by 2070.

Shri Vaidya said that IOC has prepared a roadmap to achieve net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2046. Scope 1 and 2 emissions pertain to emissions from crude oil refining and energy consumption.
