Pakistan captain Babar Azam heaped praise on batsman Imam-ul-Haq for his performance in the first Test against Australia in Rawalpindi here on Tuesday. Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafiq scored 252 runs without losing any wicket on the fifth and final day of the first Test match being played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium here.
He said, “The way he took advantage of his opportunity and the maturity he showed is commendable. [on Imam], So many positives. I would also like to congratulate our bowlers as it was a tough wicket. The way Nauman bowled was very positive for us. Some of our main bowlers weren’t even available for this game but they should be available for the next match.”
Resuming the fifth and final day at 449/7, Australia could add only 10 runs to their overnight score and lost three wickets as left-arm orthodox spinner Nauman Ali took two wickets on the day and six wickets in the innings. . Australia scored 459/10 in their first innings, trailing the hosts by 17 runs.
The first Test ended in a draw with both teams getting four points each in the ICC World Test Championship table.
