Toyota Hilux is set to go on sale on January 20, 2022, and ahead of its launch, the Japanese automaker has released a teaser image of the upcoming pick-up truck. Toyota will start accepting bookings for the Hilux soon after the launch, while deliveries are likely to start in March 2022. In fact, the brand is currently collecting online inquiries for the upcoming Hilux through its official India website. The pick-up truck was recently seen camouflaged during a Television Commercial (TVC) shoot, giving us an idea of ​​what we can expect from the upcoming model.

The Toyota Hilux will share the underpinnings with the existing Innova Crysta MPV and Fortuner. It gets a larger hexagonal grille, sweptback LED headlamps with LED DRLs, new bumpers, 18-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, side-steps, body cladding and LED taillights. On the inside, the Hilux will sport an all-black cabin that includes leather upholstery, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, cruise control, eight-way electrically adjustable front seats, connected car tech and more.

The pickup truck will be locally assembled at the brand’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka. It will come as a double-cab variant. Once launched, it will rival the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the segment. Toyota is yet to reveal the engine specifications. However, the Toyota Hilux is likely to be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine. The unit makes 201 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque, while the automatic version develops 500 Nm of peak torque. We expect Toyota to offer both 4×2 and 4×4 variants to meet the requirements of different customers.
