Toyota Yaris hatch is already on sale in global markets and Toyota launching it in India comes as little surprise as it already has Glanza for premium hatchback market.

The Toyota Yaris hatch was seen without any camouflage making the design element quite clear. The bonnet looks quite sculpted and the grille is surrounded by sleek headlights. Then it sports DRL eyebrows above the headlights and overall the lower front end gives it a sporty stance. At the rear, it gets L-shaped taillights and cluster insets in the tailgate. Then, distinctive elements like the shark fin antenna and rear wipers are also evident. The test mule is equipped with steel wheels but the production model is expected to be equipped with alloy wheels.

The Toyota Yaris hatchback is offered with three engine options.
The Toyota Yaris hatchback sold globally is based on the GA-B platform and the India-spec model is also likely to be the same unit. In the global markets, the Toyota Yaris hatchback is offered with three engine options – a 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol powertrain. Transmission options will include a manual and an automatic gearbox. The Toyota Yaris hatch will go up against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, it’s cross badge version Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz and Hyundai i20.
