Trade union representatives, labor leaders to attend L20 meet in Amritsar

Representatives of trade unions, labor leaders and experts from 20 countries will participate in the two-day inception event of Labour20 (L20), a key engagement group of the G20, to be held here from Sunday.

Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) is hosting the Labour20 engagement group. L20 will be chaired by BMS National President Hiranmoy Pandya.

Addressing a press conference here, Pandya said Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would interact with the delegates at the founding meeting of L20.

Outlining the details of the meeting, Pandya said the initial meeting plans to discuss key sustainable livelihood and employment-related topics, including universalisation of social security, social security for informal workers; and skill training and skill upgradation.

Some new trends in the global labor scenario such as new job opportunities in G20 countries, promotion of sustainable decent work, and sharing of country experiences on wages will also be the subject of deliberations at the L20 founding event.

Pro. Santosh Mehrotra, Dr. Praveen Sinha, Prof. Well-known experts on labor issues like Ravi Srivastava and Advocate CK Saji Narayanan will also participate in the deliberations.

The L20 is one of the 11 engagement groups of the G20. L20 discusses the concerns and issues of labor and employment in the light of the latest trends in the labor sector globally.
