A joint association of traders, distributors and hoteliers has said that despite being the second day of the general strike, all shops and establishments in Ernakulam district will remain open for business on Tuesday.
Most business establishments remained closed on Monday. PC Jacob, district president of Kerala Vyapari Vyavyaye Ekopana Samiti and KM Mohammed Sagir, president of Kerala Merchant Chamber of Commerce, said the strike caused huge losses to small traders, while large establishments remained open.
