Brentford have signed Albanian goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha on a free transfer, the Premier League club said on Thursday. The 27-year-old, who left Italian side Lazio in June after his contract expired, has signed a four-year deal with the club.
Stracosha played 208 matches for the Rome-based club and won both the Italian Cup and the Italian Super Cup twice with Lazio.

“I’m glad we were able to sign a top goalscorer. He’s been number one in Lazio for a long time, which is pretty impressive. He’s played in Serie A and European competition and will bring that experience with him.” Manager Thomas Frank said.

Brentford FC goalkeeper coach Manu Sotello said: “I am very pleased that Thomas has joined us. With him in our goalkeepers association, we will have a great competition that will be a step forward for everyone. Thomas is an experienced goalkeeper who has played a key role in Serie A. A and played a lot for Albania.
“He fits in perfectly with the kind of goalkeeper we want here,” he said. He can give us a lot of solutions playing from behind, he is an excellent shot stopper and very good in position. When we spoke to him, he showed a willingness to come and work harder to improve himself and his other goalkeepers.
He will take on 26-year-old Spain international David Rae, who has been Brentford’s first choice since 2019.

Brentford also announced the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Yehor Yarmoluk, subject to international sanction. Yehor joins Ukrainian side SC Dnipro-1 for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-year contract with a club option of an additional year.
Upon Yehore’s arrival in west London, Director of Football Phil Giles said: “Yehore is a player of great potential and we are delighted to welcome him to Brentford.
“He is a really advanced midfield player who can play even higher. He is someone who can build, assist and is very technically sound. He will bring a dynamic element to the team, as well as a lot of power.
“He’s coming to us from a very difficult time Ukraine And we are here to support him every step of the way, on and off the pitch. We will help him improve his English over time, but first and foremost we will do everything we can to make him feel included in the club and make sure he settles down properly. ,
