Indian Railways has successfully completed the trial run of the country’s 5th Vande Bharat Express. The trial run was conducted on Monday between Dr MGR Chennai Central Station and Mysuru via KSR Bengaluru. The trial played a vital role in acquainting the crew with the operations related to train sets and signals. In fact, this practice ensured that operators were aware of safety standards, such as working blocks, level crossing gates and more. As a result, it acquainted the onboard coach maintenance team about the technical features of the train along with various internal equipments. During its trial run, the Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat train took stoppages at KSR Bengaluru and Katpadi.

In the return direction, the Trial Run Special left Mysore Junction today and reached Dr MGR Chennai Central. The General Managers of South Western Railway and Southern Railway, Divisional Railway Managers of Chennai, Bangalore and Mysore Divisions, other senior officers and employees of South and South Western Railway were on trial run.
The Chennai-Mysore Vande Bharat Express train, which will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11, is the first of its kind indigenously built in the southern part of India and the fifth in the country. The first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on February 15, 2019 on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route. The government has made significant efforts towards strengthening the ‘Make in India’ campaign and Vande Bharat Express is one of the success stories.
In addition, all coaches are equipped with automatic doors; A GPS based audio-visual passenger information system, onboard hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes, and very comfortable seating. There are also revolving chairs in the working class. All toilets are of bio-vacuum type. The lighting is dual mode – stretched for general illumination and individual for each seat.
