A local Trinamool leader was shot dead in front of his father by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday in West Bengal’s East Bardhaman district.

The ruling party in West Bengal alleged that the BJP was behind the murder, a charge denied by the opposition party.

The incident took place when 40-year-old Chanchal Bakshi, a young Trinamool leader from Devshala area of ​​Osgram, was returning home on a motorcycle from a party function along with his father, local panchayat president Shyamal Bakshi, an official said.

He said that as the two reached near a forest, some motorcycle-borne assailants fired some shots at the youth leader of Trinamool and fled from the spot. Chanchal Bakshi was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, the official said.

Trinamool Valkyrie area president Arup Mirdha and Ausgram-2 Panchayat Samiti chief Syed Haider Ali alleged that “BJP goons” killed Chandan Bakshi because he was a popular leader who won the Ausgram constituency in this year’s assembly elections. contributed to the victory of the ruling party.

Rejecting the allegation, BJP district general secretary Shyamal Roy claimed that the murder was a result of infighting within the ruling party.

Earlier this year, another Trinamool leader was murdered in Mangalkot area of ​​the district.
