People are not opposing BJP leaders Dilip Ghosh and Sukanta Majumdar because they are not traitors to their party. This is only because of Suvendu. People have seen what is happening so they have protested in desperation. The way Suvendu is acting now, I think she has seen Pushpa recently.”

The TMC leader said that BJP is going everywhere but not facing the people.

“As far as going to the High Court for the BJP is concerned, they can go anywhere. I think the BJP should go to the United Nations because since they are going to this court, that court, the Election Commission but they Not facing the people. Let them go to the United Nations and file a petition to send force from there. Even then BJP will lose badly because they are not facing the people.”

Mr Ghosh said the students protested against Mr Adhikari’s betrayal on Monday.

“The officer and his family members used TMC and joined BJP on the eve of assembly elections. The students protested by raising some slogans against his betrayal. He usually insults journalists and others. Monday. The students were just shouting slogans against Suvendu Adhikari. And he got down from his car and ran towards the youths. The students did not attack him, they only raised slogans.”

He further said that Mr. Adhikari should have ignored the protest but he was chasing them like a “gunda” (goon).

He said, “Whatever the students have done, they have done right with Suvendu. Besides, Suvendu has abused the police there as well.”

Earlier, Mr Ghosh had alleged that Mr Adhikari was feeling suffocated in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and wanted to rejoin the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Speaking to ANI, Mr. Ghosh said, “We have heard that the LOP Suvendu Adhikari is not happy after the Contai Municipality list. The officer wanted his brother Soumendu Adhikari’s name in the list. Soumendu Adhikari was earlier the President of Contai Municipality. However, the BJP did not do so. Heed the demand of Suvendu Adhikari.”

The TMC spokesperson said that the political dynamics of Purva Medinipur have changed and the officials no longer enjoy the benefits there.

Mr Adhikari, who was a minister in the previous government of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, had joined the BJP in December 2020, ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.
